Acetate
Acetate is a plant-based material derived from cotton and wood fibers. It offers extraordinary properties, allowing for vibrant colors and refined finishes in our eyewear. We use only premium Italian acetate from Mazzucchelli, the renowned Italian manufacturer recognized worldwide for its excellence.
The acetate processing begins with a block that is cut and shaped to create the semi-finished fronts and temples. A metal core is then inserted into the temples to provide greater strength and durability, and the hinges are mounted to connect the front to the temples.
The tumbling process is the “beauty treatment” of eyewear: it removes imperfections, smooths the surfaces, and gives each frame its brilliant shine.
All our frames are 100% hypoallergenic.
Producing a metal frame involves many stages, a complex process built on the perfect balance between technology, precision machinery, and human craftsmanship.
The process begins in the stamping department, where the individual metal components of the frame are produced. These parts are then polished through a tumbling process to remove any roughness. Each piece undergoes a series of steps, many of which are carried out by hand with great skill and accuracy.
Once the semi-finished frame is complete, it moves on to the galvanic treatment, a process that adds protection and enhances the surface’s consistency, shine, and resistance to wear, corrosion, and environmental factors. The galvanic process consists of three phases: cleaning, nickel plating, and finishing, during which the frames are coated in precious metals such as gold or palladium.
To ensure perfect adhesion, each frame is carefully cleaned and polished before being mounted on special racks and immersed in tanks containing water and metal solutions. A continuous electric current allows the metal ions to bond evenly and permanently to the surface of the frame.
